There's a liquid soap yahoo! group where you can get info.

Soap was originally created when animal fat dripped through wood ashes. There are also plants that create a soapy substance (the roots of soapwort for instance are supposed to be especially good for antique textiles).

These days, there are a lot of soap-making kits that have a bag of powder and some fancy herbs or oatmeal that you can add to make your own, special soap.

If you want soft soap, use pork renderings. If you want bar soap, Beef fat works good. I don't make my own but have a book that explains all.

Salt and stearic acid should be the reaction you re aiming for

to make soap,you need :
Tallow ,Lye ,water ,and your favor scent.
