If I could read thoughts of others I would keep it to myself.
Why ~ Not all would understand you new profound talent and might begin to fear what they can not do themselves. The word Jealousy does come to mind...

Read their thoughts like read a book? Thank goodness I can't. I think it would depend on what I read there... however, if I were the only one who could read other people's thoughts I might not be too inclined to talk about it. It's easy to envision people not trusting what you had to say (I think we'd be pretty surprised what goes on in other people's heads- I know (at least I HOPE) people would be surprised at what goes on in my head)- we think a lot of things before we eventually act. There would be little benefit in bringing all this hidden stuff out into the open; much of what goes on in my head remains 'undone'- I eventually use my 'better judgment' and don't act on impulses. However, if I were a judge, for instance, and could read the lawyers', defendants', wittnesses' minds- that would be convenient and I might say something about it.

So, I guess my answer is: if this thought reading involved past actions, I can see the benefit in voicing what I read (although it might be very controversial and would likely not be high on the list of 'how to win friends'). If it involved simple everyday thoughts, I would keep quiet. There are enough bad feelings around already without adding more.

Let me also say that I believe we all have the ability, to a certain extent, to read thoughts already- we read reactions, facial expressions, hand gestures, tone of voice, etc- and I believe our own 'gut instincts' and reactions are based on this- and much of the time we would not be able to really explain ourselves- it's just 'a feeling we had'- and it's based on what we 'read' on the other person.

For me it actually depends on the kind of thought. If the person's thought is personal and embarrassing, I would keep it a secret because when something is personal it's your opinion about something or someone. Sometimes if someone tells the world your thoughts, it can ruin your friendship, career, reputation, business and even your life (for example; if you think your boss is a jerk and another employee tells him that, you'll get fired).

Now if that person's thought is serious (like a threat, crime or terrorist attack), I would report to the police or the FBI because if you keep that a secret, innocent lives could be lost or billions of dollars or resources that are vital to our country can be lost or stolen.

That why you should keep personal thoughts a secret and report dangerous thoughts to others.

If you really used to your advantage, well, eventually people would find out about this power regardless. It would just be obvious. You would just start answering peoples' inner questions and asking about things directly on their mind. After a while, folks would start talking and then you'd be a sort of town celebrity. Someone would ask you to write a book and then you'd wind up on Oprah reading her mind and wowing the audience.

I am one of the most intuitive folks that I've run across. I do attract others , like myself, into my sphere of influence. We all know about ourselves. We are very frugal with words, because we empathize so well. I do not tell newly met people that I "know" them, but I don't have to keep anything a secret. People are not stupid in terms of their instincts. They sense "something" about me. Most like to associate with me, because of the good, high energy that I give off. Those few that are put off by my self, weirdnesses and eccentricities, all: THOSE, I am better off without.

I am sending you my thoughts on this question. Be encouraged, grasshopper.

It WOULD have to be an 'at command' kind of talent...something thyat wasn't 'on' all the time, or you would go insane!

That being said, I would not tell ANYONE!

First, I would always have the upper hand, and no one would know it.
Second, if others DID know, I wouldn't be able to trust what they were thinking...too much second guessing then!
Third - just think of the 'favors' people would ask for if they knew of this talent!!

I would keep it to myself..but in the name of being a good citizen..If I passed someone on the street and they where thinking about the plans to rob or kill or harm themselves..I think I would most likely at least call it in to the police or someone anonymously.
I would also "know" even more so when a friend was upset and be able to help them more.

I think it would be selfish beyond imagination to keep such a brake through from humanity. Either way your getting rich. But if you make a devotion to gruelling monotonous tests for a majority of your life, you will be making an unmeasurable contributing to mankind.

You would probably go mad. How would you be able to distinguish between your own thoughts and other people's thoughts?

The reason you can distinguish your own speech from that of other people is differences in voice (pitch, etc.).

The same can't be assumed for thoughts. They would probably appear as your own (tp you).

The condition would likely be virtually indistinguishable from schizophrenia. And these guys keep nothing a secret.

So you are likely to tell other people. But they will probably think you are crazy.

It will be an advantage for me though its hard, "With great power comes great responsibility"..hahah.. I wish I can read your mind so i can realize why u ask this question..
