Whats the best way to 'press' fresh flowers???? Any specific techniques?

A cousin of mine puts the flower between two paper towels, then he puts it inside a book, and then finally, he places several heavy books on top of that book.

You need to press the flowers. They will be preserved for a period of time looking quite good, but after some years, they will loose a good deal of their color. This will happen with any method you use. You can buy a small press in most large craft stores for about 12-15 dollars. If you plan on doing a lot, I would recommend you make a better one. Almost 8 years ago, I pressed a couple of roses using answerer #1's method, & placed them in a frame. They're a lot darker now than they were then, but they're holding up quite well otherwise. To keep them in the best possible shape, don't let them get exposed to air after they've been pressed - it'll encourage the decaying process. Laminate them!!
