By cleaning up your credit first. Who want's to do business with a person with bad credit?

If you have limited capital and bad credit, the best possible way to raise financing for your business is to borrow from family and friends -- either as a loan or you sign them up as investors. If you go for the loan option, you have to pay them back the whole amount, if they are investors, you only need to pay them dividends at year end but they will have a say in your business decisions.

As for the option between franchise and starting your own, a franchise is always better since they already have built the brand of the product or service, and they have operational systems in place. You need not start from scratch. But you have to pay franchise fees and royalties so franchising is more costly than starting your own. Also, you will have little room for creativity because you have to adhere to their franchise standards. If you start your own, it requires a lot of hard work, including putting systems in place, training people and building your brand. But you will have more leeway in being creative with the business and making it really your own.

You're hooped until you clean up your credit. You need money to make money unless you want to borrow it all from friends and relatives.
Do a google search on 'donna fox, credit millionaire'. I've listened to some of her teleconferences and she's an expert at helping people clean up their credit because she made her fortune using credit.
Good luck!!
