Madela,it comes in an easy access backpack for traveling and has a very reliable motor at 250-300 dollars it is definitely the most bang for your buck and very convenient,By the way I dont know what kind of insurance you have but check to see if you have medical equipment coverage,if you do have your doc write a prescription and you get a 300 dollar pump for free.

Hi there honey. I just wanted to add one little hint. I really think that there are some wonderful pumps out there and unfortunately they tend to be expensive.
What I wanted to say tho is that even the most expensive, wonderful pump in the world will not pump enough milk unless your milk "lets down". I wanted to be able to leave a nice full bottle on those few occassions that I went out without my baby. But, no matter how I tried I could not get enough milk! I finally realised that my milk was just not letting down sufficently. I found a solution that worked beautifully for me and I just wanted to share it with you. You let the baby nurse on the fullest side while you are pumping from the other side. When your milk lets down the bottle will fill right up, it will be half full (at least!) by the time the milk quits gushing! I used to be able to get four or five ounces in just a few moments that way!
My sitter very seldom had to resort to the bottled milk that I left for him so I just froze it in case of an emergency. It gives you terrific peace of mind to know that there is wonderful "Mommy's" milk there for them in case they should become hungry. My babies always seems to sense that I would be home soon tho and they waited for me. I would be home mere seconds before they were latched on and filling their little tummies. I surely miss those days!
Enjoy your sweet baby and the joy of breastfeeding, This is such a precious time in your life and I hope that the two of you enjoy every moment of it. You set a living example to other mothers and perhaps you will even inspire an expectant mother to breastfeed her new little one! Not to mention the wonderful example you set for any other children you have!
Love and Blessings

I loved my Ameda hand pump. It came in the kit that you buy when you rent a pump. It was great for occasional use, but when I went back to work, I loved my Ameda Purely Yours. Lactation consultants do not like the less expensive pumps like Avent and Gerber. They told me that those cause injuries, and my girlfriend was injured by a Gerber, but my sister-in-law used one and said she was fine. Congratulations.

Medela Pump in Style -- if you can get it as a baby shower gift or afford it b/c it is the best & is hospital-grade quality. If you plan to do it occasionally, you should get a manual one or a small battery-operated one. But, you never know when the Medela will come in handy b/c I didn't know the baby was going to arrive early & it helped me to get my milk supply going.

We had twins. We rented an industrial pump from the hospital. It was worth it. The cheaper ones quickly become painful to use, and we needed to use ours alot.

The kind that you rent from the hospital or the baby center. They are much better than the kind that you buy at the store. Trust me, nothing else works better.

i used the AVENT Isis ( http://www.avent.com/uk/en/breastfeeding_avent_isis.php ) those things are great! they make breastpumping easy and comfortable. unlike others that painfully pull on your nipples you just wanna give up already.

i highly recommend them.
