Since West Indies have already played Ireland team in Group D at the Group State and defeated thenm, they have carried forward 2 points earned by them from that match and they need not play against Ireland again. If you see the super 8 point table you will find that Ireland has been shown as played 2 matches, whereas they have played only 1 match in Super 8. So is the case with other countries.
In short each team in the super 8 is deemed to have played one match each and the point from that match has been carried forward in the Super 8.

If you will notice the schedule of matches for Super 8 series, the winner and loser in each group(in round one) do not play each other in the second stage. The match they played against each other is counted as one match each for all the team in the Super 8 stage. That is how you get WI played 3 matches(the matches they lost to Australia and New Zealand in Super 8 plus the group match they won against Ireland, for which they carried forward 2 points from round one. Got it?

ok, the teams that defeated the other qualifier in the same pool, will carry 2 points in super 8 matches. As westindies, aus, NZ and sri lanka are thru with 2 points.
