Not to worry , this is a really common problem. Using applicators is a good idea! but the other answers were right aswel! practice makes perfect! Tampons should not be uncomfortable or painful when insertered properly. Try using the smallest size tampon possible and relax..aim for your back and go slowly! If your still having trouble wait awhile and try again. Also , theres a small chance that this could be caused by a physical problem so if your still not having any luck and are worried pop along too your GP. Otherwise , goodluck!

Good idea to use the applicator! It will make it a lot easier. Chances are, it's nothing to worry about. As, HA HA HE HE suggested, the angle is probably what is causing the discomfort/pain. Practice and you'll get it.
On the other hand, there is a very rare condition that may mean your vagina IS actually blocked by a membrane of some sort. If you continue to try and really cannot get it in, speak to your doctor to be sure. I'd say this is VERY unlikely though.
Keep trying and you'll get it. And as mentioned, try to stay relaxed and not fret. Good luck!

It took me 8 months to get a tampon in, I followed the directions as well, but like you, I could not get it in, and it would start to hurt after just a little ways, what I did, was sat on the toilet and bent wayyyy over, and pointed it to the small of my back, cause I had heard that worked, IT DID, so now thats all I wear. You should Ttly try it!

It just takes practice. Are you using the Teen Juniors? They are slimmer and maybe easier to insert.
Once you get the idea, you'll be grateful that you kept trying.

Practice makes perfect. They will work and your age has nothing to do with it. Good luck.
