Christina Aguilera seems to be the only one who can pull it off..and although I've tried many different reds, it always makes me look odd. I have fair skin, green eyes and dark brown hair with golden highlights. I normally go for nude/pink or lip balmed lips but I'd love to know how to pull off the fire engine red without looking like a crazed vampire. Thanks!

Just in reply, I love experimenting in make-up. I said no-where in my question I wanted to get attention from red lips, and when done properly, red lips look great. I was using Christina as an example of someone who does it well.

well you could try like a coral-ish color which is good for fair skin because it doesn't totally wash you out. But with your coloring make sure that you apply it very cleanly with a lip brush, and if you want to take it off, DON"T WIPE! this will dye your chin and cheek red. So try maybe like a scarlette, like an orangey read, and depending on if your skin is warm or cool( you can tell by seeing the veins in your wrist. if they are more purply your cool, more green your warm. OR put a silver and a gold bracelet on. Which ever seems to match your skin....gold=warm, silver=cool) more orangey reds for warm tone, and more prplish reds and fuschias for cool tones. If you want to ease into it slwoly try a red lip gloss and work your way from there. Which ever you choose make sure that you have neutral everything else including hair. if u don't thay would deffinitely be the vampire look. Yeah, and if you wear like a red belt, it might help you feel just that more secure !!
hope it is a help!

It takes practice to wear screaming red lipstick. You'll need to determine whether your colors are cool or warm and buy an appropriate lipstick that won't clash with your skin tone. Put it on to make one trip to the store or Post Office and see how you feel. If you wear something red to go with it, it's a little easier, plus balancing the rest of your makeup with it will help. You'll need to get used to seeing it, especially if your normal lip treatment is neutral. Keep at it, you will succeed!

Christinia A. is not the only one. Trust me honey, there are millions of women who can you just don't know enough. Second of all, you might like the idea of red lips but people who look at it won't like them. They like seeing something natural yet light & fun. Try pink or peach colored lipstick.

with fair skin you wouldnt go for bright red lipstick but more of a dark plum red and make sure you use a lip liner to keep it looking perfect and not smudging

Yes... - So WHY do you want to find a way to look like your garden variety Streetwalker on a Saturday night??? There ARE more subtle ways of getting attention... (& by the way, I like Christina A.- too... -but when she dresses DOWN, not when she's vamping it up for the camaras).

sometimes it depends on your skin and hair, usually people with fair skin don't look good with it because it makes their skin look more fair, especially if your hair is dark
