Once you get the hang of it, it's way easy.
Basically, like you said, you want to get the ball backspinning on each touch.
Keep your knees slightly bent and your head a little forward. Curl your toes up (as in, try to point them slightly backwards) so that the ball stays under control.
You'll want to touch it lightly so that you can keep the ball below your knees. Also, try alternating left foot and right foot, as it is a very natural motion similar to walking and will develop skills in both feet.
You'll get the hang of it soon, I promise. I got very good at juggling (I can pretty much go forever lol) in about 2 months. Granted, I've played soccer forever, but it's really easy and fun to learn.
Once you get juggling down, look into freestyle football. I'm sure you've heard of it...pretty much the coolest thing ever. Look it up on youtube sometime!
Good luck! Let me know if you need any more help!

a lot of juggling is technique. Keeping the ball in exactly the same spot every time you catch and throw.
You can make it look deliberate , start, do 8 passes and catch. Then start again . It impresses people if you dont drop anything.
Or one handed juggle two balls .

wow, alot of ppl want that best answer points!!! the answer is clear, and i doubt u want to read every answer and some answers are very ver very long. for me, there is a little trick for me, ur supposed to juggle with the sole of ur foot, thats the whole purpose of juggling, to get used to timing. but if you use ur toes to create a baackspin its easier to juggle, of course u dont gain as much knowledge. but as u use ur toe to s[pin it, you will gradually learn to hit it with ur sole of ur foot

Well, the most basic thinks about jugling is foot work. When you practise with your team, when your team is doin ladders, hurdles, or hoops or whatever you do to work on foot work, just pay attention to what you can improve on. But the most important of all is just to practise.
