Happens with straight people in the case of bad breath or boredom.
Kissing is more intimate than sex.
Doubt that a persistent non-kisser should be considered a "romantic" partner----buyer beware.

Given the level of homophobia in society - a lot of gay men and lesbians will be very careful about showing affection to their partners/lovers out in public.
The consequences, could be social ostracism, curt/ailed career or job prospects, even bodily harm from gay bashers.
I think in private they're just like anyone else in terms of affection.

Sometimes, if they're not too keen on PDA. I'm not. So, we don't kiss that much in public, but I don't mind kissing her. I think kissing is one of the sexiest things on the planet. It's just that it makes me uncomfortable when I see other couples, gay or straight, all lovey dovey in public, so I spare people that feeling.

I think that they just don't want to get beaten up because society is still at that phase PDA's are uncommom but all too particular to the gay community i just saw a gay commercial though so the world is slowly changing

I am not sure...on some levels kissing seems to be more personal....more emotional than just raw sex...more vulnerabilities

It happens in all relationships I think. Fear maybe, low self esteem perhaps. Maybe its bad breath. I wish I could figure it out myself.
