good question. tough call. their is something that seperates them--but in some ways they can be closer to me. some more than others.
And I know a few, that if this were "real life" would make awesome friends. too bad we all live so far apart.

Then so will I say yes. I met my best friend online in 2004 playing dominoes, when my husband was in Iraq. She is from UK - her and her husband are coming to USA for the first time, at my BEGGING! We visit on webcams, mics, send things to each other, LIKE REAL PEOPLE! So, for you doubters, GET OVER IT! I have a couple of other people, like you, that are the BOMB to me! Not everybody, but just like REAL LIFE, a few! Nice question. BTW... some of you might know Willeth! lol

I think as you get to know someone you can become closer to them and eventually there is a trust and a friendship built up.
I think peoples personalities and how they're feeling become evident to you by the way they respond to Q or something that was said. Sometime they don't have to say "I'm sad" or "I'm mad" directly, you just can tell.
So I say, Yes.

Some of them have become real close friends
We are there for each other in times of despair but also in happy times.

No we are Internet colleagues. It would be nice if their are common interests that people share maybe their real email so they can have other conversations to see if there is a connection that can result in a friendship.
