Funny. I discussed this with friends the other night. The consensus was that flag burning is a protected action under the first amendment. We also came to an agreement that if they should be allowed to burn our flag, the police should turn a blind eye while we beat the living sh*t out of them. I think its only fair.

You should not commit a crime over this. The thing to do as a proper citizen is to call the police, and yell at them.
Plus if they are burning a flag to incite hate, then you're just playing into their hands, then they win and you prove that you are a violent person from a violent country etc.
However I'm pretty sure that it's illegal to burn a flag, so the cops would deal with it, which would make them the definite wrongdoers.
Oh and in the USA I think you could do a citizens' arrest, but still no hitting.

Flag burning is a very dramatic, serious action and it should be taken with precaution: while the act is protected under our 1st Amendment, people like yourself (obviously) take it very personally. You and others may become so caught up over the SYMBOLISM of the thing that you fail to see what the messenger is trying to say.
I would pose to you the question: why do you think a person would take such a drastic action?
And to a flag burner I would ask: is this the best way to communicate your message?

Why would burning a flag incite you to violence? You should, instead, salute. Remember the proper way to dispose of the flag is to burn it.
Sounds to me like you are the one who does not respect the flag.

That flag stands for the right to do just that: burn it. By attacking a flag burner, you disgrace the flag more than they ever could. Think it through...
I wonder: Is it my right to hit the burning flag with a hose as MY right to free speech?

That does not, under the law, constitute an incitement to violence, and you may be prosecuted. Read the First Amendment.

I'm not sure. I've never witnessed a flag burning. Have you? Great political wedge issue though.

It isn't racist, it is treasonous. Ifeel as you do. I'd love to kick the guy or gal who is burning our flag in the groin. They are immature, idiotic a**holes.

If you adore symbols that's OK, I guess you adore my middle finger too.
I rather go by the constitution which is the only thing we have in common.
