It Would have to be the Dodgers. They are the team that has been most closely linked to the Yankees in history. The Yankees and Dodgers have been World Series opponents more than any other two teams, and outside of that, the Dodgers have their own notch in history. Ebbets Field, Jackie Robinson, the first team on the west coast, Dodger Stadium.

How about BEFORE the Yankees. The first professional team in history was the Cincinnati Red Stockings in 1869. (The highest paid player made $1,400, by the way). After one season the owner packed up the team & went to Boston where they continue today as the Boston Red Sox. In 1871 there were 9 pro teams, including Chicago White Stockings, Philadelphia Athletics , not including the New York Yankees.

Speaking in terms of total history (i.e., the amount of time since the team started), the Yankees are pretty far down the list. The Cubs and the Braves have been around the longest.

In terms of post-season success, it would be the St. Louis Cardinals, who've won 10 World Series and been in 17 of them (in addition to 4 league championships before the World Series came into being, and 5 other post-season appearances).

Your question asks "After" the Yankees? That's easy, a lot. But the real question should be "Before" the Yankees. And that's easy, too.
(Point-1) Cincinnati was the first originally organized team that paid their players back in 1869. Lot of history there.
(Point-2) Before being named "Yankees" the team was called the "Highlanders", and not much going on with them.
(Point-3) The St. Louis Cardinals were one of the original teams when the "Major" leagues were formed back in 1876. And the Cardinals have had great teams and players from Triple Crown Winner Rogers Hornsby to The Gas House Gang, Dizzy & Paul Dean winning 49 regular season games in 1934 and then winning two-each in the World Series, to Stan "the Man" Musial, Mark McGwire, to present day Albert Pujols.
(Point-4) Miller Huggins was a Cardinal long before he became manager of the Yankees leading them to many great years with Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, Dugan, Combs, Meusel and the others.
(Point-5) If you are referring only to "Pennants & World Series' ", the Cardinals have the National League's record by any team that has stayed in one location.
(Point-6) Check out the number of Cardinal players in the Hall of Fame.

After the Yankees and all of their World Series titles it should be the Giants. Yes, I know, alot of the history is old, but isn't that what HISTORY is?

The Giants do have more wins than any other team in baseball history. Then you also have more Giants in the HOF than any other team. From Mel Ott to Mays and McCovey to (love him or hate him) Bonds, Christy Matthewson to Carl Hubbell to Juan Marichal and many more. The Polo Grounds, the "shot heard 'round the world", the 'Stick (pitcher blown off the mound in the All-Star game and the quake in the '89 Series), don't forget the 16 inning pitchers dual between Marichal and Spahn (both of them pitched the entire game) that was ended by a solo homerun from Mays in the 16th. The new park, by whatever name, is even starting to make some for itself from state of the art amenities like the HD scoreboard (supposed to be the largest in the US) to the solar power system to help generate electricity to run the park and power the nieghborhood to of course the 'splash hits'.

Nobody comes close 2 having a history like the Yanks. It's not the oldest, It's the best. Without the Yankees, there would be no baseball to watch. No team to love or hate. People have hated the Yanks sicne the 60's, because of that history, that no one will ever come close to.

Now that I got that cleared up I'd say either Sox, Reds, or Dodgers.

First of all, you cannot start the question that way. Teams like the Red Sox were formed before the Yankees. History is not about pennants. It is about tradition. Fenway Park is the perfect example.

lol the Yankees only have history because of the Red Sox. I think the chicken clearly comes before the egg in this instance.

After the Yankees? That's easy -- the Cincinnati Reds were the VERY FIRST MLB baseball team so there's a lotta history there. And of course you can look at the players of Cincy's past (Pete Rose) and present (Ken Griffey, Jr) and see there's a lotta legacy there.

That's tough to say. The Red Sox had Babe Ruth and Ted Williams, a Carlton Fisk home run 2004 and being baseballs first dynasty.
The Dodger's and Giant's had great runs in the 40s and 50s.
The Cardinal's claim to fame was their Gashouse Gang and their 10 World Series titles.
