Two transformers in my neighborhood blew up while i was watching tv on windows media player. Now my dell laptop is not recognizing the dell tv turner. It says the usb device is not recognized and it has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. When I go to the tv turner on the media player it says no hardware is detected and to make sure it is installed. I'm noot sure if the problem is software or hardware. Software maybe a drivers problem? Maybe the turner fried when the transformers exploded? I appreciate any feedback.

It sounds like too much of a coincidence .... if it happened immediately after the electrical failure then odds are that there has been some damage to the tuner.

If any other device works correctly via that same USB port then we know the PC is okay & that it is indeed the tuner which is defective.

Driver problem .... anything is possible, however, if no software changes were made on the PC just prior to the issue ... I doubt it.

Try the device on a different PC to know for sure.

first check the cables if cables are ok then it might be fried.
