Isn't the reality most people are somewhere in between or that it differs on the issue where you're liberal or conservative?By artificially blowing that devide up the two mayor parties can bind the voters to them.Does that make sense to anyone or should I quit the koolaid already?

The majority of Americans don't vote based on red herring issues. Red herring issues used by liberals and conservatives are designed simply to hold onto a base.
The vast majority of Americans are moderates and spend time looking at issues that matter the most.
It is difficult, however, to get these politicians talking about concrete issues that require some knowledge. They seem ready to discuss matters that require only an opinion.

I dont think that is exactly true. I personally think there is a fundamental difference between liberals and conservatives. I have been trying for a long time to figure it out but just look at the odds. Both in the liberal and conservative parties there maybe one or two issues that are different between 2 different people but over all if you took avg of stances on each issue in a party the overwhelming majority percentage would be according to each groups beliefs. I dont believe that once you fit into a part of the group you conform to the rest of the group so I see it as something is inherant to a conservative personality and liberal personality that creates this divide. I maybe wrong but being a mathematician the numbers line up that way.

Not really. Conservatives are not fooled, they know there hasn't been a real conservative in power for the last 50+ years besides Reagan and Newt Gingrich. Most politicians are aganst real conservative principles because they wouldn't have anything to do at work. I actually wish there were more divide, I can't tell McCain apart from Hillary based on their voting records. Feinstein & Boxer run in my state virtually unopposed. Arnold is a conservative one year then liberal the next.

Absolutely, most people are moderate, but they usually fall left or right of center, it is then easier to agree with or feel alienated by the parties.

Despite what you may see, most people do understand that what their party claims is not necessarily 100% true or accurate but it does fall more in to their political beliefs than not.

I am a life long republican and a catholic and I am for Gay Marriage. In fact most of my "Conservative" friends are as well. But many of the other messages the liberals spread disturb us and we disagree with strongly.

I think you will find most people hate the way the ideas are spread from one side to the other. Liberals tend to claim if you disagree with them you are racist, bigot, un-educated and/or a redneck (none of which qualifies for me or my friends) and the right claims if you disagree with them you are elitist, unrealistic, brain washed, or an enemy sympathizer.

Both sides have their problems and their good points. Unfortunately the people that get the airtime are the ones who usually represent the far extremes, they make the parties seem more divided than they actually are.

and in times like this where we should be united, the rhetoric gets kicked up and we just seem more divided.

The post about Limbaugh is true - And he has been at it since the 80's - That is a long time for people to listen to extreme, hateful and un-true lies - it starts to wear off on the listeners.

Liberal radio doesn't work - mostly because to be liberal you have to care about people - homeless, minority, etc... so sending out a mean message doesn't work.

I think Liberals are fed up with the Con's playing with two sets of rules - it isn't ok for Clinton to Lie... But Bush's lies are killing people... BIG difference.

Nobody died when Clinton lied.

Alot of people dont realize that. They let themselves get worked into a frenzy over wedge issues, like abortion, gay marriage, flag burning. These are otherwise intelligent people who fail to realize that there is virtually NO difference between the two major political parties in the US today.

Whether Bush or Kerry was President, nothing much would be different. Both party leaders serve the same masters and have the same ultimate goals.

I agree. they are on the SAME TEAM....And year after year they look astonished! Wow, this one is the same ****** as the last one! when will they learn?

They are buying into that partisan crap and I just don't get it,
most of us agree on MOST things,

divide and conquer, it works for our government,
the duopoly corrupt corporate scam establishment can throw out some bull crap divisive issues and pretend they are actually the important stuff going on in government and the people actually buy it.

Yes I agree, and remember Yahool Answers is far from reality. From the looks of it there would be fights in the street everyday if it were.

We do have a problem. Keep all moral issues out of politics and we would be much better off. I am a republican but do not care about what people do about abortion. I realize that people will get them anyway and do not care about gays they will be that way regardless of what I think. Do not take my money- and give it to others that is my motto.
