Actually, my question is.....Are your views on Muslims from your own experiences in your personal life (Events that occured in the world dont count, Im talking about Muslims you have actually met and talked to)??? or do you just follow whatever the media says about them?

when i saw your question, i thought about day to day muslims i see in real life, im glad you cleared that up. some people would have went wild. the ones i meet are reserved and usually nice people, they do seem a little arrogant like most religious people though, good question.

I was in Bosnia for a year amongst Muslims, well before 9/11- and from an outsider point of view- It was neither weird nor alarming- outside of the praying-which was new to me- nothing really stuck out.

Granted though, two distinct factors 1) they were white europeans and 2) they were fairly liberal

I think race and how orthodox the muslim are factors into a persons opinion- as Arabian people are really a minority of minorities in the west, (except Europe) and how fundamental they are , (just like with any other Religion) is also a big factor in how they are perceived.

So it is about allot more then just a broad type of religion, rather a concoction of multiple factors that feed into a persons opinion- even if they simplify and generalize in their response.

Every one that I have met seemed normal enough, any religious person or people that believe in imaginary friends are a little bit crazy, But I don't have a problem with them @ all. Even the worst and most extreme ones out there that believe Death To America haven't hurt us as bad as our president has with making so many others turn against us. So That's what I think about them. I also think that is wrong to take the actions of a few and generalize all of them like that. If people do that they would have to assume all catholics to be in the ku klux klan. It would only be fair from their standpoint to assume that. Stupid, but @ least they wouldn't be biased hypocrites.

well there is a muslim student that goes to my school and he is very intelligent. he can read and write in muslim and he can also do the same in english.. not long ago in my history class was my teacher tell us about how we the people in america needs more muslim people so we can communicate with the middle east more easly, because it is useless to interact with someone that you cant even speak their langauge... and i some what agree, because the world is full of different langauges not only english.. what i see on tv can be missleading so i sorta stop watching it.. but i read a book recently about muslim it is really interesting, and iono what else to say i can go on and on for a long time haha okay bye

I don't judge someone by their religion, I judge them individually. I have a good friend who happens to be Muslim and he's one of the kindest people I've ever met. I can ask any question, stupid or not, about Islam and he will answer me the best he can. Never seen him angry. However, while I lived in China, it was well known that you had to be careful of people from the Northwestern part of the country because many of them were thieves. They were Muslim, but that wasn't why many of them were thieves, it was because they were from the poorest part of the country.
Extremist of any religion are annoying and you just need to avoid them. Moderates are good, because they don't push religion and instead keep it to themselves.
In the US, I'm afraid most people get their idea about Muslims from the news. Most likely because they have never met one or even if they did, they didn't know it. It's considered rude to ask someone what their religion is in the US and most people assume that the person they are talking to is Christian because statistically that's the best guess.
I have family members who are terrified of Muslims because they know nothing about the religion, they get all there information about it passively, and face it, Islam hasn't had an ideal marketing campaign in recent years. The ironic part is, before Muslims of the Arab world accused the US of purposely attacking Muslims and then started fighting in the name of Islam, most Americans probably had no idea that the Middle East was Islamic and didn't care. (Most American's couldn't find Iraq on the map, do you think they knew what religion they followed?)

I like the Muslim people I have met and come into contact with.
My friend did get kind of loud with me one time and told me not to go to Starbucks because she said they were owned by Jewish people and supported the Israelites. I was so surprised. All I wanted was some coffee.

I also heard about the list a lot of Muslims have not to shop at certain places because they are owned by Jewish people. So most of the Muslim nations drink Pepsi, because Coca-cola is owned by Jewish people.

All this stuff kindof weirds me out, I just like to shop where I like if the product is good.

i like muslims ive met. they are very decent, good natured people who dont go around preaching their religion , but instead, very respectively and quietly practice their faith together in nice ways without imposing it upon anyone else. Many Muslim teenagers respect their family and their selves and dont give in to the typical "American teenage lifestyle" and thats really good. It shows that Muslim families are very close and strong. I think we need more of that in the world.

Muslims I've known residing in the U.S. were quite personable and interesting. They were clear about their faith without being imposing. Unfortunately, they don't represent a growing wave in their faith abroad that gives rise to dangerous regimes.
