Well, maybe you just havent perfected both. The problem is that you have to be confident & great at both, then slowly but surely start combining the two talents. For example, start with slow songs that have limited words, and gradually work you're way to songs that challenge your vocal & guitar skills.

I would say you have to practice and concentrate. However, if it makes you feel better, the Blues singer, BB KING says that he can't play and sing at the same time. That's why he either plays or sings.

Did you just start playing? If so, concentrate on getting better on the guitar. You will eventually be able to do both.

Start off with easy songs Try playing just
the chorus looped several times before you try the whole
song

Just practice a lot. When I started doing both together I had the same problem, it was very hard, but now it is easy for me. It just takes a while for you to learn.

get good at the guitar (like til u can play without looking) then get to the singing...slowly

try easier songs first like a blink 182 song or some beck songs like (nausea) its really easy to play and you can sing. or you could try humming the song first and just evolve.
