It most certainly is price gouging and the only reason gas stations do that (charge 20 cents or more per gallon per gas of the same grade as a gas station in an adjacent town) is simply because they can. IN my town, they do this because they think people won't want to drive 6 or 8 miles to the next town to save 10 or 20 cents per gallon but I don't fill up at stations here just out of principle. It's just a game anymore and any and every excuse they can think of to raise the price on us, they will use. Gas stations in certain states tend to charge much more than stations in other states. You can log onto www.gasbuddy.com to compare gas prices in different towns.

Where I live the price is .20 higher than the rest of the town. I don't know if it's because I'm next to the hospital, but the price is always higher here. I have NEVER bought gas here. I suggest you do the same.

(btw, that's only a .16 difference)

The price of petrol in the more remote parts of Scotland has broken through the £1 per litre barrier.
Three garages in the Western Isles are now charging the landmark price, which adds up to more than £4.50 a gallon
That's about $9

There are some gas companys that try to compete with each other but they dont try to make the price to low so 20 cents diffrence is better than 60 cents

It's due to a thing called 'zoning'.

Different parts of the city are in 'zones', so gas prices are affixed according to traffic patterns.

The closer to a major artery you get, the higher the price.

A one lane road would have a lower price, than one with a 4-way intersection.

The gas station next to us is roughly $2.76 a gallon.

Down the street, it's almost $3.

Yes, our local station just went up from 2.48 to 2.59, but you can drive about 30 miles and get it for 10 to 20 cents per gallon cheaper.
