We already did. At least one of the at the time stated goals ... capturing Saddam. Unfortunately, in the process of our little war, we started a much bigger one. And that one my friends, cannot be won by military means. They have many more suicide bombers than we have troops. There will have to be a diplomatic solution amongst the Iraqi people themselves for the violence to stop.

The war in Iraq cannot be won, just as the one in Vietnam could not be. It is already lost. It is only a matter of time till the American public accepts that and decides to come home, acting bewildered. No country has won a war in modern times against a guerilla, terrorist insurgency.

this question is not a valid one for the 21st century. it was valid...centuries before us. a plan -- we should have, but none exists. winning -- is not the real issue, and this has not even been discussed among participants. war --yes, war goes on - because currently it is not controllable. Iraq --yes, Iraq still exists but not in the state when USA went in in full force. the future -- no one can tell. hope it helps.

People of Iraq can only sort out the mess. Media in Iraq and their leaders should do their best to convince different groups that disunity will endanger their existence.
