Okay. The suns have 2 big enemies that they have to beat.
The spurs and the Mavs.
The spurs who are old veteran players have a really big chance to make it to the finals but if they were pitted against Dallas in the 2nd round they are done for. Defensive wise I think the Spurs have an advantage against the Suns. They have a solid defense.
The Mavs however are a better defensive unit than the Spurs and they are very young and you can see that they are in it to win it. The Mavs are a better team than the Spurs but it all depends if Tim Duncan would be in his superstar form.
I have to admit, the Suns are the best offensive team in the league with the assists leader: Steve Nash. But they have weaker defense than the Mavs.
Last year, one big factor why the Suns lost in the semi-finals against Dallas was they didn't have a good big man.
This year they got Amare Stoudmire to fill that role. Remember he was injured last year. If Amare can have stellar scoring nights and if they outscore the Mavs every game, they can make it.
But in my opinion, Dirk and the Mavs are going to the finals. No doubt.

I am a Suns fan but the Mavs are really strong whose D is much stronger than that of the Suns. Also, the Suns haven't been playing well lately and if those are signs of things to come, it doesn't look good. However, I see there only being three teams able to come out of the West, either the Mavs, Suns, or Spurs.

I think really good teams need to get beat up in the playoffs before they can move on. Based on their series with the Laker's last year, I think they could do it.
The Laker's won three games in a row to go up 3-1, and won in the most heartbreaking fashion possible. 9 out of 10 teams would have folded, but somehow, they game back (to my dismay).
Experience like that helps you grow and be mentally prepared for the playoffs. They have the players. I agree, they don't have a great defense, but I disagree that it is essential to going to the finals. Defense doesn't win championships, scoring more points than the other team does.

Yea they have a legitamite shot, but they need to play perfect to beat the MAVS and SPURS....Their defense is horrible, Golden State dropped 45 in the first quater on them (yesterday) But when you have Nash,Marion, and Amare you always have a shot...and they have proved that they can get to the west conferance finals, and did it last year with out their second best player, Amare...

Yes, I believe the Suns can win the Western Conference. They mast take their defence to another level ,and if they do so, the can make the Finals. Dallas would make a very worthy opponent in the challenge, and it would be a greeat matchup.
