This musket ball was given to me by someone I once knew, he said he dug it up in one of the southern states. How old do you think it is? Is it from a war?

Musket balls and lead projectiles are still found quite often near Civil War battlegrounds or on trail leading to same. Picture has nothing to show size. If the ball is in the area of 45-66 caliber , located on or near a battle area, then it is probably a relic. Artificially aged lead projectiles are also known to exist but actual relics are readily available from different sites on the internet. I would try looking under " Civil War Relics for sale"
