What if the song was "Next Time She Cheats"? Would it be just dandy for a guy to vandalize his woman's vehicle?

Sorry about messing up the title of the song. I was working from memory which is never a good idea.

Jessica,

People seem to have a good chuckle about the song when it involves a guy. What if a guy made a song about smashing up his girl's car or slashing her seats? Would the song be so cute or funny then?

In the same vein, remember the song "Earl had to die." Hope I spelled "Earl" correctly and got the song title right. While I do not condone the actions of the fictitious "Earl" in the Dixie Chicks' song, I also disapprove of murder. Just leave an abusive man which is not always easy. But that is better than poisoning an abuser, then dumping his body in a river.

You make a good point. There definitely does exist a double standard here. If a woman becomes hostile against a man, it seems to be relatively tolerable behavior, whereas if a man becomes at all hostile toward a woman, he's considered dangerous, violent, an abuser, etc. At least as far as public opinion is concerned. The law does try to maintain some equality in these areas, even though that too does fail from time to time.

I can't imagine people would be very happy listening to a song on the radio about a man getting back at a two timing woman by destroying her property. There'd probably be some public outcry about violence against women.

Actually, I don't think it will be as popular as "Jesus Take the Wheel" because this song won't be played on Christian radio stations like that one was which is why she sold so many albums. Also, FYI, they are starting to play Martina McBride's "Anyway" song on Christian radio stations now, heard it for the first time today....an amazing song!!

Well, first off it's called "before he cheats." and i agree, it wouldn't be as appealing if it was a guy.... for some reason society has the idea that women can be rude to men, but men can't dso the same.

Women aren't usually caught when they cheat. Men almost always get nailed. It would be interesting to reverse the genders though.
