He's referring to MADD, Mothers Against Drunk Driving. We probably consume lots less alcohol than people did a couple of hundred years ago. But society has changed. A drunk who drove an oxcart in 1850 couldn't do much damage, but today that same guy would be driving an old Chrysler on our crowded expressways, and you'd be as good a target as me. A sailing ship could be crewed and officered by alcoholics, and they often were, but the vessels went 6 mph and generally got where they were going. The same is not true for an airliner.

Nobody thought that alcohol was much of a life issue until the railroads discovered that it caused accidents. That's when they began to enforce sobriety for their employees, and the attitude of people toward alcohol began to change.

What kind of question is that? Of course America has a substance abuse problem. What is MAD? Are you referring to Mothers Against Drunk Driving?

Yes of course it does. But this substance problem does apply to all of Americas.
Regarding MAD... I feel all organizations may have some bitchz in it. Remember; Mad does this from their heart and there is always two sides to every story.

All countries have substance problems and MADD (there are two D's) is trying to work to decrease the problem. It's harsh of you to call them that when most of the women in MADD are women who have lost children to drunk drivers. Think about it before you start calling them names.

Yes it does and they will NEVER stop it. The government loves to take on these unsolvable tasks. they seem to think they can fix everything. It's hard for a bunch of testosterone filled wind bags to realize, they don't have the answer for everything.........i.e. IRAQ.
