so i filled up my tank with gas 2 days ago on my 1987 acura integra. it hold 13 gallons of gas, and everytime i put in gas i make sure i restart the little mile meter thing. so its at 91 right now, and i only have half a tank of gas left in my car. it seems like every time i go home and then back into the car, like the gauge goes lower and lower. i dunno if its the gauge or something wrong with my car. im not leaking gas i think, i mean theres no puddles under my car or anything. im not sure what to do.

well, i got a tune up acouple months ago. and its not like its night time when i check my gas. its like broad daylight and my gas gauge goes down. i think it might be a leak but theres no visible gas anywhere on the car or on the ground, so im not sure.

A small fuel leak might not be easily detectable. Fuel might be leaking out somewhere you can't see. I'd maybe have an auto-shop check it out, since you can't really do that yourself.
Some little monkey might be stealing gas from you. Try putting a gas cap w/ a lock on there and see what happens.
Grade of fuel is no reason for concern. Everyone uses 87. I drive a Ram 2500 5.9 liter V-8.. and I use 87. It's fine.

First you need to check the obvious...If you dont smell gas and the car runs fine...There is a simple solution to finding out if your car is actually using that much
First, do not trust you gauge...You said that you have a half of a tank.. Refill the car and see how many gallons it actually takes to fill the car up...You may find that the gauge is innacurate...It is not uncommon for a fuel sender to not read correctly but still work...
After doing that..then you can determine whether or not you need to seek out some sort of engine proble, fuel leak, or a damn thief....

The first thing is to get a locking gas cap.
Next, fill the tank and record the miles, then the next time you fill up note the number of gallons of gas it took and divide that into the number of miles you drove to get your MPG. Try to fill up at the same level each time, say when the gas nozzle shuts off, then stop there and note the gallons. That way you can be more constant with the reading and see what you get.

you're sensor might be bad. It may say that you only have half a tank while you could keep driving for a couple hundred more miles. It's not extremely hard to replace and if you aren't leaking and nobody's stealing gas from you and you know your gas mileage should be better, i'd check it out.

Well, it could be a couple of things. 1.) You might have a gas leak somewhere under your car. 2.) Your car might be in bad need of a tune up, because you're getting bad MPG. 3.) Somebody is stealing gas out of your tank at night.

get the gage tested if it is not that then take your car for a service. the gas must be going some where and if you are sure there is no leak and it is not being stolen then your car could do with a check.

I agree, sounds like someone is stealing your gas. If you do have a gas leak you should be able to smell it. It would be hard to detect a leak unless you sit there watching it becouse gas will dry fairly quick.

Hello, It sounds like you have someone stealing your gas or if it is a really low grade of fuel you will loose several miles per gallon

Check your fuel injectors. If you start your car and then turn it off and then start it again then this is not the problem. But it could be that the fuel injectors are leaking and flodding the engine.
