What do you think about people who tell you all the baby names they like and then tell you that you can't name your kid that because they are going to?
I think that if that's the case they shouldn't even bother saying anything. I mean, who are they to say what you can and cannot name your child? What if you were thinking of the same name and liked it a lot? I've had two people do that to me so far after I have gotten pregnant. It gets a little annoying.
I just wanted to see how would that make others feel and what they think about it.

When I was pregnant I heard the same thing all the time. This was my response to them...."Oh, I all ready have my name picked out and until the baby is born you will have to wait and see! Maybe it was one of the names you mentioned and maybe not!"
Baby names and friends....don't mix.....Be ture to you and name your baby what you want. Adults sometimes need to grow up. This isn't kindergarden where if you found it or thought of it, it's yours.
Millions of people have the same names. Remind them of that.

I had that happen when I was pregnant and I have just said that to one of my best friends recently. :)
I wouldn't be mad at her if she did use the name but we were talking about baby names and she asked what I would use if I had another boy. I told her I wasn't going to tell her because I would be irritated if I told her and she used it but if she used it on her own it's a completely different story. She begged me to tell her and I think she really likes it! I wouldn't be mad but I would be irritated since I told her I didn't want to tell her!! :) I don't OWN the name so I wouldn't start a fight or give her an attitude or anything crazy like that.
I appreciated my close cousins and friends telling me what they plan on naming their children - especially if they are pregnant or planning on having children soon - because that way our kids don't end up with the same or matching names. There are tons of beautiful names.

That's annoying if they're just gonna list it and tell you everything you can't instead of suggestions. I think it's okay if people have definately decided on their favourite name for a baby and plan to name a child that and it's only one and they tell you in conversation. :P But if they say it just to say "Hey you know all these names you were considering? Well, I've decided I like them, so paws off."

Well, yeah this is true. My mum got alot of baby names for me that she "couldn't" have because the people wanted it for their baby. I mean honestly people have to grow up and say of course you can name your baby this and I might just find a new name for my baby or I may just use that name too. Instead of no that's my baby's name. But I am proud of my name :) (I'm Shekinah by the way) Pretty exotic name I realise hehe..

If you want to name your child that, then go ahead. If you like it, that is all that matters.
I hate when people do that. My mum wanted to name me Kayla but her mate told her not to because she has a daughter named Kaylee.
Then my mum really wanted to name me Jessica but my grandmother told her not to.
Now I am stuck with the name Sarah. I'd rather be named Jessica or Kayla.
She was even thinking about naming me Cynthia but her other mate told her not to because she had a daughter named Cynthia.
I would even rather be named Cynthia.

If it is a name that I truly liked as well, I'd go ahead and name my baby it. I'm a name freak, and already have a list of names I love. I don't care if someone else likes the name - they don't own it!

Fu ck them you name your baby what you want .And yes that has happened to me but I didn't care I was still going to use the name it was a girls name. Guess what happened to me I had a boy so my husband got to name the baby .That was our agreement if I had a girl I got to name the baby and if I had a boy he got to name the baby.

I never had the happen to me, yet I can picture just exactly how annoying it can be. You know in truth no one can tell you what to name your baby. Some people are just nuttier than squirrels.

You pick the name you want & that is all there is to it. Nobody can tell you what names are ok or not.
Hard to hold your tongue & not snap at people for it, but keep trying.

i had the same problem w/my mom she wanted me to name my son joseph so we could call him joey,but i named him jordan christopher and she got mad she does not even think of his name as jordan she calls him christopher,and i named him jordan just to piss her off b/c i said he was my child and i was going to name him what i wanted ..so i was like i ll show you..ha ha
