I'll nominate two men.
First is the prophet Mohammad. While there are more Christians than Muslims in the world today, one must remember that Christianity was really founded by two people--Jesus and St. Paul--while Islam was founded by Muhammad by himself. After the death of Jesus and his ascension into heaven, his followers were limited to a mere handful locked in the upper room of a single house. Mohammad on the other hand, conquered Arabia and spread his religion throughout that peninsula during his lifetime.
The other man I wish to nominate is Julius Caesar. Caesar's name is synonymous with military genius. His name not only became a title for the Roman emperors, but also for the Czars of Russia and the Kaisars of Germany. He conquered not only Gaul and Britain, but also made an important alliance with Egypt. Upon his death, Rome was transferred from a Republic to a mighty empire.

I think that the people who invented and improved the printing press have acccomplished the most in history...
The printing press allowed written materials to be produced cheaply so that anyone who could read could learn from other educated people...
Think what the world would be like without the printing press books... only a few people would be educated and books written by hand would be very expensive...
Hmmm... but... computer communications are getting close to the same effect.. perhaps some day I will think that this is the greatest accomplishment in history..
But then ALL things are by the grace of God and Love of Jesus Christ.

This may not be the answer you are looking for but I can't think of anyone in history who has done more than Jesus Christ. He died on the cross so that everyone that believes in him will not have to suffer eternity in hell but can live eternally with him in heaven. What more could anyone do?

There are a lot of ways of looking at this, power, longevity, land, influence, you have to pick a path and go with it. I think you can either go with the Mongolians for the amount of land they controlled at their peak, or the Catholic church for the lasting influence on western culture. Either one you can find out a lot by looking in wikipedia. Good luck.

There are so many amazing people in history, but when you asked that question only one name came to my mind, Jesus Christ. (Sorry, if I sound too goody-goody.) He healed the sickk. He taught virtues that now form many actions in our modern day society. If it wasn't for his actions our world might now be filled with more turmoil and confusion than it already is.

probably a religious figure: Jesus for example. Because of the spiritual component his doctrine developed thousands of followers who transmitted it worldwide; preparing to kill or be killed in the process. Otherwise I would suggest a military figure eg Napoleon or a scientific figure eg Einstein or Volta.
