Hush, little baby, don't say a word
Mama's gonna buy you a mockingbird
If that mockingbird don't sing
Mama's gonna buy you a diamond ring
If that diamond ring turns brass,
Mama's gonna buy you a looking glass
If that looking glass gets broke
Mama's gonna buy you a billy goat
If that billy goat won't pull,
Mama's gonna buy you a cart and bull
If that cart and bull turn over,
Mama's gonna buy you a dog named Rover
If that dog named Rover won't bark,
Mama's gonna buy you a horse and cart
If that horse and cart fall down,
You'll still be the sweetest little baby in town.
Hope that helps

If you have a big lounge chair - set up your bed on that chair - sleep half sitting up and you won't cough so much. Before going to bed take a nice relaxing warm shower or bath. You can relax your mind by starting at the top of your head and moving down your entire body - tense the muscles in each area and then relax them -pretending to push the tension down your body - keep moving through each "zone" in your body until you reach the feet, picture the tension and anxiety releasing through the soles of your feet --feel the warmth of relaxation and drift off to sleep.

Here in Scotland we have a one-for-all remedy, TAKE NOTES: take your favourite mug put a table spoon of honey in with a wee bit of milk, some boiled water to cover, stir and desolve and finally the most important ingredient-a dash of your favourite single malt to seal the deal. Voila! you have a Hot Toddie.. Sip slowly; find a quiet, warm and dark place, put on some relaxing music(put the volume so low you can barely hear it). Concentrate on breathing and heartrate as you calm down your senses will broaden.
You'll start to hear the music quite clearly just as you drop off into a wonderful dream........... the idea is to simulate a womb like environment. The hot toddie just takes off the edge and lets you slip on out. It's good for sweating out fevers and colds too.

I know of no cure and am just waiting for cough to clear up, hence the reason I'm on here at 3.10am
Send me an email ... we'll cheer ourselves up

Take very slow very deep breaths over & over. Inhale slooowwwwlllyyyy, hold it, exhaaaaallllleee slooooowwwllly. Close your eyes & roll your eyeballs in circles, imitating REM sleep. Sometimes reading can make you sleepy because of the rapid eye movement. Take a cool washcloth & put it over your eyes & then behind your neck. Maybe even put on some very mellow music & just relax & turn off your mind...good luck!

Put a couple of cloves in your mouth so that the cough doesn't bother you. It will help you sleep too.. just put them in between your bottom lip and teeth and suck on them like you would a cough drop. Good luck and I hope you can sleep a little better!

It sounds as if your problem is a pooling of mucus from your cold. Have you tried sleeping with your upper body elevated? Or. do you have a recliner you can sleep in. You want the mucus to continue to travel downward, not pool around your lungs as it would should you lie prone.

If you really want to have a peaceful nights rest, try chewing ginger and raw pepper soaked in white rum.
It is an old Jamaican recipe which works 100%.
Let me know what you dreamt about.
