I have anxiety problems that I've been seeing a psychologist for, but once in a while, I'll get these feelings like my head is imploding, or it'll feel like there's something vibrating inside my head, and it really freaks me out! I've went to the ER twice because of stuff like this, blood tests and cat scan came back fine, didn't have an MRI though. I'm really worried about my head, lol. Could it just be a weird kind of anxiety attack?

Yes, it could be anxiety. Extreme anxiety can cause "somatic problems." That is, people with extreme anxiety usually think something is wrong with them physically. They think they are having a heart attack, a stroke, they are going to die ... blow up ... implode.

When the physical problems are checked out and none are found, it is a good bet the origin is anxiety. Stay with your psychologist and talk to him/her about this. You are on the right track.

Next, exercise. That helps burn anxiety. Then learn to relax. Practice meditation. You CANNOT experience anxiety and be fully relaxed at the same time. Learn to relax.

Take care,
Dr. J

You may be having anxiety attacks and there are ways to deal with them. Good for you for taking proper precautions such as seeing a psychologist and seeking medical help when needed. Talk with your psychologist AND your doctor about learning to work WITH the "attacks".... ie, take note of what leads up to them, learn what to do to get through them, etc.
It's important you find some kind of answer because the anxiety of not knowing and fearing their return just adds to the problem. Take care!

I'm not here to distribute medical advice ... but this does indeed sound like a panic attack. I've had them for about 15 years now and there are many different symptoms. Try checking out different web sites on the web to find out more info. Also try joining some groups and discuss what you are feeling.

i'm a psych student. i think, that is caused by your anxiety and stress..

try not to think about your problems a lot. it will cause you a lot of illness and worse, a disease. u know, sometimes, when we are always lonely and depressed, it make us weak and it creates our sickness.

hey, it's a good thing, too, that you went to a doctor and series of tests. if the results is negative, have a get-away...rest for at least 3 days, take a vacation....have time to reflect on your life and try to figure out what-causes-what :) you need to be away from negative energy for a while.

it might be psychological, maybe you are repressing a lot of thoughts that is causing that weird stuff on your head.

It could be but if it continues or gets worse, I'd go back to the Dr and have more tests run. Anxiety can make you feel very weird sometimes.

emotions are the hardest thing to deal with. as a human and many time anxiety is created because you are either to far ahead of yourself or too far behind (living in the Future/ Past)).......Try being in the moment.......the best way I do it is to play with children.......like ages 3-8 they are totally in the moment and don't understand anxiety..just like a dog.....let them lead in the play as well......its the best therapy you can get......I'm sensing there is a repressed emotion of some sort that you are afraid to let out are can't let out because of the life situation you are in......a shrink will probably prescribe Seroquel if they haven't already.....its a strong tranquilizer that will numb you......not sure how you feel about being numb.....but try playing with kids or a puppy its easier and safer.
