Why should we pay taxes for a military an individual may not feel is needed? If someone feels they need protection they can pay for it through a private company, instead of individuals being forced to pay a welfare type of national security.

Have you seen what the military pays contractors??? If we privatize the military, the military budget will be over a trillion dollars a year.

Liberals like you should be proud that we have what you consider a "Welfare Military".
If you want protection, pull your blankey up over your head so the boogeyman doesn't get ya!
I prefer to have a military that is professional, well equipped and well trained.
What you would have if the military were privatized, would be the same kind of protection that allowed 19 cowards with box-cutters to get through airport security. Get real!

How could you privatize the military? There would be a monoply of GOP contractors inflating prices. You cant escape a need for defence. You cant avoid paying taxes, period. Why should a single person pay as much in property taxes as the family of 5? The single person is paying for his neighbors children to go to a public school. Taxes suck.

Where do you think the private military will get the money, thin air? We'd still be paying taxes to hire a private military. And, those private military groups don't think they have to uphold the constitution or our national laws for our military. It's too too dangerous.

Because then the president couldnt be commander in chief like the constitution says he is to be and there would be no such thing as national security.

Im afraid you just dont understand national security with a statement like that, it is naive at best. We have this thing called "tyranny" and we have to be able to fight it when it rears its ugly head. So you think only patriots should pay for the army and the rest of the liberal cowards (like you) should sit back and enjoy the national security that everyone else fights for and pays for?

As a conservative, I would have no problem with privatizing the military (letting people like me pay for your security), as long as we make libs pay for their wefare programs

The U.S. military is pretty socialist when you think about it. State owned and controlled. There is no profit incentive. They work for the benefit of the people as a whole instead of individuals.

I would think cons would be the first to abolish it.

Are there any private sector corps that are already in the rent-a-military business? If so, who? That would be very helpful in my quest for world domination.

You're a freaking genius. I think you should blaze that trail. I am sure there is a fortune in it for you and better security for Americans everywhere, especially the lower and middle classes.
