I realize I may be accused of making generalizations here;

Why is it that gay men and straight women are generally able to get along so well, while lesbian women and straight men are often at odds. It seems as though straight men are left out of the picture.

Is this due to intolerance, dissimilar interests, or some other factor?

Straight men are typically on the prowl, and lesbians aren't interested in their game. Some people think it's because lesbians are competing for the same women; nothing could be further from the truth, since lesbians like lesbians, not straight women.
I have lots of straight male friends, and they all know better than to hit on me or my lesbian friends.
If you want to be lesbian-friendly, treat us with dignity and respect-- no sexual overtones, please!

Definitely not true. I know a lot of lesbians that have a lot of guy friends. You just may not see them out in public like gay guys and straight females who go shopping and hang out. The lesbians I know would rather sit at home with their guy friends, watch the game, and work on cars. For real.

I think it's the other way around: Straight men don't get along with lesbians. I know that there are major exceptions to the rule.. but most of the lovely lavender leftist ladies of sapho that I know are very friendly.

I'm a lesbian and my two best friends are straight men. The only straight men I have ever disliked are the ones who think they could "turn" me or that wanted to watch me and my girlfriend have sex. Wouldn't you be just as upset if a gay man wanted to "turn" you or watch you and your woman?

well, I don't know how many lesbians you know, but I (as well as any other lesbian I know) get along with straight guys just fine! just because I'm not attracted to them, doesn't mean we can't be friends!
