I have decided to be a single parent by choice. I really don't want to "naturally" have a baby if I'm not married, although I would like to have one of "my own" someday.

I want to adopt, but I have specific wants. (race, etc.) And what I am looking for is generally hard to find I suppose. I think that you can pay someone to have a child for you, but doesn't that cost more than adoption? How much does adoptions run pricewise, and what are the statistics for finding a caucasion/white newborn girl 1 day old to 1 week old?

You can join the group called "Single Mothers by Choice" and you can pay for a private consultation with Jane Mattes, its founder. She should be able to guide you. She has something like 20-30 years experience. SMC has helpful groups in most major cities.

I think your best bet would be to pay someone to have a child for you. You should probably use your eggs for legal reasons.

You would want to make sure that the birth is covered by medical insurance. The cost then should be between 15-20K.

It is very difficult to adopt a healthy caucasian child less than one week old. You might research how famous single women like Rosie accomplish this. As you probably know, foreign adoptions take time so the child is usually several months old. Foreign adoptions are probably 10-15K.

In my group, two-thirds of the mothers gave birth and the others adopted Chinese girls. China is planning on closing off adoptions to single women.

Since you are considering having someone carry a child for you, check out California Cryobank's donor list. They are the leading bank in the U.S.

When I first thought about having kids I as well wanted to be a single mother because I watched my mom do it alone and I thought having one person raise a child was the best way, no drama, ect. Well I got pregnant and my babys dad doesnt want to be around, doesnt care what so ever that I am pregnant and denys my babys everyday, I find it so hard to do it alone, women need support, love, and care while pregnant. Its better to have someone by your side, trust me, its not easy doing it alone. I rather not do it alone now.

On the subject of adobting a child. People prefer to choose families with both parents. The adoption agency also requires that you make so much money and "live" a certain way. If you can find someone to have a baby for you then that would be the best way. But finding someone that is willing to give up there child with out going through an agency is going to be hard to find.

Good luck. I have heard adoption can cost as much as $10,000. Your request for a baby with those specifics can take years. Unless you have some luck and find an expecting mother through a private agency.

Although I don't think children do best with single parents "by choice", I think its great that you decided to adopt. Have you checked with any Eastern European agencies? Email me for more info.
