Typically, when someone in Human Resources checks your employment history, they actually call your recent employers and speak with the Human Resources managers about the length of time you worked there, any raises or promotions you got, what terms you left on, and any performance evaluations they wish to disclose. The only way I know of to check employment history is in that fashion. I'm sure there is a way to check all the companies your social security number is associated with, but that probably requires government authorization.
