One generation, two generations, three generations?

Who cares if the Republican party ever recovers from the Bush disasters? My question is how long is it going to take the American public to recover? Yeah, Clinton may have had his personal disasters, but he never destroyed the people of this country in a way that they lost home and hearth. Bush has run this country into the ground financially. He has so destroyed us economically that it is going to take at least a generation of GOOD government to fix the damage he has done to the American family's hopes for a better tomorrow.

One generation, probably. It's going to be a damn long time though, that's for sure. Republicans have lost many votes like mine for good. I'm a moderate Independent. I used to vote Republican quite often, more often in fact, than Democratic. Those days are over. It's not just Bush, it's what the Republican Party has become like in his wake. Even during Watergate there were large numbers of Republicans who didn't hesitate to call a duck a duck. Now, even though many of them dissent, they shrink into the background while their more virulent counterparts slander, character assassinate, lie, and don't have the character to admit when they are wrong, much like their hero Bush. I'm 50 years old and I've been an Independent since I was around 21. I feel so strongly about this that I am considering joining the Democratic Party. I never use my ballot to split the vote anyway, and these goons are never seeing my vote again, so why not?

It took 12 years for the Democrats to recover from the Carter years. It really depends on the people who get nominated in 2008. If the republicans are smart, and I think they are, they will run 'the anti-Bush' in 2008. That will be an intellectual, who did not mix his faith into the policies. Guiliani or Romney would be very good choices.
As a Democrat, I would love to seeMcCain run, since he lost all his credibility by back Bush and the war.
If we run Edwards, or really any of the contenders, we will do well.
To answer the question, probably 8-12 years. But a lot can change.

Just about the amount of time that it takes Hillary to lose the 2008 election to a Republican.

The way the Democrats are going now, it could be
the Republicans could pick up speed tomorrow. I
would not want to be on the same side as Rosie
O'Donnell, Belafonte, Muslim Terrorists and all the
other antiAmericans.

They are still full of crooks and thieves. For an honest man who follows the Constitution, vote for Ron Paul, Republican candidate for President.
