Topping a palm is not a good idea. You basically beheaded the tree. You can do that with woody trees that have many branches, but a palm only has one source of growth. You remove that and it doesn't grow anymore, at least from that source. As mentioned, your best hope is that it sends out new shoots from the ground, otherwise, you're going to have nothing more than a tall stump that will probably eventually die.

"Topping" with all due respect denies any plant the ability to sprout in their natural progression.

I suggest the best you can hope for now is that the plant will thrive send out shooters from main stems, or new growth from roots, much like other palms do here in Florida, spreading and in time creating a new "tree"
