Down, I am the only one who uses the bathroom in my house and I always leave the seat and the lid down after using it.

When I used it, it was UP, but prior to using it, it was down...and unless it is in use it is always down because we have a cat who will drink out of the bowl if she gets the chance to!
Actually the lid was up, but the seat was down...(in use)

Down It is my apartment and I tell everyone that comes in if they can put the lid down then don't use my bathroom!
