That's like when evrybody that wore jeans or flares, had hair that touched the top of their ears or listened to Rock were "Hippies". I remember those days well.
Also if taking your picture in the mirror is Emo, I was Emo in 1967.

I have two points to make..to answer your first question, people like to us this term because people feel comforted being able to "categorize" stuff, and it also makes them feel smart to use terminology...Taking a photo of yourself in the mirror COULD be considered emo since it COULD be considered a bit self-absorbed...

I don't know either but if it is really good then it may be emo to like Kenny Wayne Shepard or if it is really bad to be emo to like someone else.

LOL Agreed. Emo gets tossed around a bit too much these days. I'll be glad not to see it anymore personally.

Heh, what a coincidink. I'm listening to "I Must Be Emo"...it's very catchy. Emo's like..I dunno, overrated now because everyone's using it for their weird reasons. Like "Oh, dude, the vending machine won't take your money because you have emo quarters!" I gave my friend a look when she said that.

I liked it when emo was used to describe music, not people.

It's turned from actual group of people to stereotype to general insult. Labelling people was bad enough, but now that's a diss, right up there with "Your mom!"...

I have never heard it except in here, not even real sure what it means. I don't think its common where I live.

It's the new buzz word. Don't worry, everyone'll get bored with it soon enough.
