this is for any mechanics out there...i am 16 and really dont know that much about cars and i was just wondering how much it would cost to switch from an auto. trany to a manuel tranny.( i know its ALOT...i just want to know ) give or take a thousand

I would keep the auto tranny for what it is going to cost you to change it over. You have to consider that unless you already have a hole in your floorboard you will need one not to mention the tranny and clutch and all the other parts needed for the transition. I would call a tranny shop and see what they would charge you to do this. If you don't already have the transmission that alone will cost close to 2,000 dollars plus labor and parts. good luck

Well, if I understand correctly, it depends on whether you can find a manual transmission for you make, year, and model of car. Then you have to drop the auto out of your car, put in the manual one, and mate up the linkage. It costs a couple thousand last I heard. that was years ago.

It depends which transmission you choose and quality parts such as brands of flywheels clutches release bearings hydraulic clutch / vs. / mechanical clutch linkage. bell housing and the cost of a new drive shaft. If your extremely lucky $1,500 - $3,000.
