here's the situation people of Yahoo. All winter I've been at home sitting infront of the computer it's when i get real lazy. But now that spring started i started to ride my bike take walks and play soccer alot! My legs are killing me. My mum told me its 'cause that your thigh muscles are ripping, and when they do they'll regrow stronger. If that's true or not, when will the pain go away i can barely stand up :(

She's right... in part... the whole muscle isn't "ripping" per se but there tiny tears in the muscle fibers. What you are describing is called "delayed onset muscle soreness" (DOMS)... and is a result of ramping up physical activity after not exercising as much for a period of time.

I get this fairly often because I don't workout as much as I should. :-p Be sure to drink lots of water and eat lots of protein to help your body repair the microtears in your muscles. I've also found some of the essential amino acid type protien drinks seem to quicken recovery... but expect your muscles to be sore for a couple of days.

If you are an adolescent age then it could be growing pains. Thought it's most likely that since you haven't been excersizing at all during winter, you aren't used to excersizing. This happened to me once, and god knows I loathed it. A few days ago, I had to run 2 1/2 miles for P.E. My legs hurt alot at first, but now they hurt less. The pain will go away soon.

When you overuse your muscles, they develop small tears (ripping). They usually return a little stronger each time. If you are lazy during the winter, you'll find that it takes a while to get back into shape. Keep your initial workouts easy, and build up to your goal.

How old are you? It could be growing pains, or they could hurt because you were inactive for so long some of the muscle mass died out, and now you're pushing them a lot harder than you did during the winter
