Hi everyone. I had a miscarriage back in Dec., since then i had a normal period in february.. i missed my period this march.. and i took a pregnancy test, and it showed up positive. can you have a period if your hgc levels are still up? can this be a false positive?

I have always heard you can have a false negative but posative means posative! Congratulations and Best of Luck! :) Being a mom is the best job in the world!

It's possible that it's a false positive, but it's more likely that you are pregnant. Don't let the miscarriage stress you out. This time things will probably go well. My youngest son was conceived just a couple of months after a miscarriage, and the pregnancy went great, there were no problems, and he's six now and perfect. Good luck.

OH please find a home at our message center.
a little information: the site owner has endured miscarriages, and a still born...another member has endured a stillborn and myself I have endured miscarriages.
We are not proud and would LOVE to turn back time, but both of these beautiful strong ladies went on to get pregnant again, the site owner is actually on her second and due in May...we have a lot of information and can help get you through days you feel you are losing it again.

Now on to your question: YOU cannot have ever a false positive, never!! So you are pregnant!
In Dec 04 after having a tubal reversal surgery to get pregnant...I got pregnant, started what I thought was a normal pregnancy, then it just stopped ...I thought weird so I tested and it was positive, now I have to have my HCG's read due to high risk of ectopic pregnancy...but he found nothing! I was pregnant but it was not in my uterus so I had to have a d&c and a shot of methotextrate....which took away the next 4 months of ttc! ugh..so there are NO false positives, even chemical and blighten oviums come out positive. However there are woman that cannot use a hpt...so they go on at least 2 months before they realize they are pregnant.

I doubt that 3 months later it would be a false positive, but there might be a very slim chance. Most people that miscarriages have low HCG levels anyway, so it prolly isn't 'residual' HCG. I would do a new test. If it is positive than make an appt ASAP. My pregnancy after miscarriage took me forever to believe it was real. In fact I was further along when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter than I was when I had the actual miscarriage.
I have my fingers crossed for you!! ;)

First of all, my sympathies at the loss of your tiny little one back in December.

If you have missed your March period AND your hgc levels are up those are two excellent indicators for a positive pregnancy. I would only suspect a false positive if you had good reasons to suspect otherwise.

yes there are false positives. i had a miscarriage and still had the hormone in my blood for a month. i also was pregnant and took 3 home preg test and said i was negative and eventually had the miscarriage. if you miscarried back in dec. you may be preg. again. go to your doctor. please be very cariful about what your putting into your body, like coffee and pop. only take tylenol and dont lift anything. the first 3 months of the babies life is vital. anything can effect its growth. good luck. children are blessings

This long after the miscarriage your HCG lvls should have deminished. or at least be some thined out that you couldn't get a positive test. Sounds to me like you're pregnant again and with you previous complications I would call my doctor first thing monday morning and schedule an appt. ASAP. Good luck!

My doctor told me to have 3 normal periods before I got pregnant again. I've heard of women getting pregnant in shorter amounts of time than that, so yes, you can be pregnant.
