Yes and No.
Yes because five - ten dollars is an amount everyone has to spend. dvds would do extreemly well; people would buy even more. perhaps two or three times as more.
Then again no, because theres no why to tell if people who download music or movies, were going to buy the album or dvd in the first place. a lower price wouldnt really change the fact, that they never intended to buy anything.
media companies believe they are losing money because people download their files. as if to say, "Everyone was going to buy our product, but because of file sharing we LOSS millions!" total market profit gain is unreachable for any business

Perhaps some would, but the great power of buying individual songs is that you don't have to pay for all the crap music the recording industry cranks out to fill up space on CDs. Fans of a particular artist will always buy all of that band's CDs, and greatest hits albums will continue to sell well, but the days for your run-of-the-mill albums are dying, I think. I, for one, am not inclined to pay $20 or even $10 for a CD unless I know for sure that I will like most of the songs on it.

Definitley. I usally wait till Meijer has CD's on sale before I get them or share with my daughter. We share DVD's, too, and wait till they are on sale. Except some of the kid's ones I like to have at my house, too, for when the itty bitties come to stay.

Cd and DVD are cheap! I bought a 100 stack of sony CD's at office depot for 15 bucks the other week.
I subsequently burned all my illegally downloaded stuff on them.

wow, thats a tough one. If they're already doing it, they're probably not going to stop. I purchase CD's from Amazon, usually at $7 plus shipping because its easier than searching for a good copy.

Not to abuse my Smarty Pants abilities but I think if a loaf of bread was less expensive more people would be likely to purchase it. I agree with you 100%.
