LMAO at cpshmidt :)) Yeah right - lets pay for consultation and 12 months marketing package from someone who uses a yahoo.com address :))

Go into Google and type in Free Banner Network - many good ones in the first 5 or 6 pages - look for the ones that either give you fre impressions or those with no need to earn impressions, also worth considering is whether they are blocked by Nortons etc, many adware programs check for tracking and cookies so be careful which one you select. At the end of the day their tracking statistics mean **** if people arent seeing your banners.

I'm not sure what kind of business you have, but business owners and Internet marketers can advertise their company, product, or service for free on DirectMatches’ online professional networking service. They have forums that people from every industry use to advertise their businesses. The best part is that it is free to get started post a business profile right away.
I get so many hits from others who are interested in my businesses that I can't keep up with the emails!

Here's their site:

Hi

The most important thing is to build an attractive, useable, well-written and content rich website where the content is optimised for the search engines. Then work on your metatags and gradually build inbound links to your site, so that you get traffic. This is number one priority.

I represent MTC Consulting that is a professional web development firm and search engine marketing firm-amongst other things. For a fixed price, we can undertake a twelve month search engine marketing campaign that is negotiated with you and tailor made for your business and that includes constant monitoring and analysis of your sites traffic. If you want any further information or assistance, please contact me on cpschmidt29@yahoo.com.au.

Regards

Chris

Small Business Marketing Strategy: Target the up-and-coming search engines

While Google still rules the roost when it comes to Internet search engines, and Yahoo is firmly entrenched in second spot, a number of new start-ups are hoping to give them a run for their money. And a good small business marketing strategy would be to check them out and see how you can make them work for your site!

Some of the new up-and-comers include:

Powerset : ( www.powerset.com ) A "natural language" search engine

Hakia : ( www.hakia.com ) A "meaning-based" search engine

Wikia : ( www.wikia.com ) A "community-based" search engine

ChaCha : ( www.chacha.com ) A "social networking-based" search engine

Snap : ( www.snap.com ) A search engine that offers visual previews

It's a smart small business marketing strategy to continue optimizing for the Google, Yahoo, and MSN search engines as they are by far and away the most popular -- but niche search engines could provide new opportunities to reach your market. Be sure to check them out!

Build inbound links to your website.
Most of the directories online charge a one time fee to review your site and add it to their index. Here are three of my favorites:

The more inbound links to your site, the better you will rank with Yahoo / Google / MSN.
Also work on your meta tags. Here is an
article on how they work: http://www.richkahmer.com/meta-tags.html
