The pope inappropriately named "Innocent" III launched 2 Crusades. One was against a group of fellow Christians. This Albigensian Crusade, also known as the Cathar Crusade, in 1208 (or there abouts) led to the beginning of the Inquisition. Sadistic, sexual perverts were recruited in the name of god to burn women alive at the stake, and commit other depravities to show their love of god.
