I would love to see them do so.
But it 'aint gonna happen.
Even the Argentinians know that the UK is no longer able to effectively exercise military force. They're making noises about re-taking the Falklands and this time there's no Iron Lady Thatcher to kick them back off. And the UK military is a shadow of what it was under her watch.
Exactly what forces do you think you have that could do anything?
Special forces raid? Not bloody likely without heavy US aid. No way to get 'em in, or out, no intel, nothing. Your SAS lads are the best on Earth at what they do, but this is simply a non-starter from the word Go.
Straight up attack? Again, with what? You could fly your Tornados and maybe even the Typhoons out of bases in Iraq, but you'd have to have permission from the Iraqis for that and the EU would blow a BOLT over it - And there's just no political willpower for that sort of war in the UK right now - and you know it.
Naval attacks on port facilities and oil terminals? How many lost ships are you willing to endure to anti-ship missiles? British air defences were shown to be inadequate to stopping Exocets (a really pathetic ASM) 25 years ago, and they're hardly better now..
Your military is made up of very, very high quality folks. But they've been hamstrung by your politicians cutting of their funds, sticking them under very restrictive ROE's and by a press establishment that is so bad the RN stopped piping the BBC into their ships due to its bias and inaccuracies.
It's just not going to happen. Though I surely wish it would and would cheer loudly if you do!

virtually each sea border has a 'gray zone' the place there's a dispute as to the place the boundary fairly is going. Britain has those between Scotland and eire and Scotland and the Faeroe's. In some places those are particularly extensive and permission ought to be type via the respectable vessels (fishery risk-free practices as an example) to flow into. an identical is maximum probably to take place between Iraq and Iran so perhaps an identical arangement ought to be entered into between Iraq and Iran for those naval opperations. the alternative for the British military to %. up Iranian naval vessels in an identical area, consequently foremost to a shooting conflict.

I have a feeling the plans are being made as I type this.
Iran's actions don't surprise me in the least - remember, Ahmadinejad is just a figure head - it's the Shiite clergy and their supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who are instigating this provocation.
Personally, if I had the authority, I would lend Great Britain our two battle group aircraft carriers off Iran's coast and let them have a go at it..

They should, absolutely. And are more likely to do so than are we as the Britts seem to have something that those of us in this country lack....pride in their country and a refusal to allow anyone to kick them around. They are not plagued with an inordinate amount of liberals who seem to think you can sit across the table from a terrorist and reason with them to settle all of your diffrences. When will everyone wake up and realize that we are facing an enemy who will stop at nothing in order to end everything non-muslim even if it means the end of their lives? And before anyone becomes offended I am talking about the extremists and NOT all muslims!

Without a doubt, acting the way they are now(indecisive) they appear weak and give the Iranians more incentive to committ other acts like this!

No. If the U.K begins to attack then it will cause a chain of events that will probley involve Iranian military actions againist U.K. However they should postpone trade with that country. Or should make a deal with Iran like a trade off
