I work in a gas station.. Nobody ever reads the pump # he/she is at.. Everyone comes with a description of the car he/she is driving.... Why do people never stop to read the number which is there for their convinience?

A lot of the time we don't pay attention, we've other things on our mind, like how are we going to pay these prices and still eat? By the time we think of it, we are already inside with all our money in hand and can't see the numbers anymore.

I thought you were talking about the serial numbers on the pumps. The Bureau of Weights and Measures will check the pumps yearly to make sure the gas station isn't ripping us off any more than they are now.

The particular gas pump number connects to the store computer read out. When you walk in there's no confusion which pump was your pumping spot. The cash register person simply asks: Which car is yours and your account is in front of them. Most of the time they know where you were by site.

This is done to avoid confusion at the cash register.

Because they are ignorant, and the fact that there is a number that is plainly visible... (sometimes even from inside the gas station) doesn't make a difference... they just don't have time for silly things like that ! Society basically has it's head shoved up it's #&* most of the time anyway !
