I want to take my mother to Las Vegas for her birthday, as she's a big fan of CSI-LV and Cirque Du Soleil; besides she always has wanted to go, and now I have the chance to take her. I've been to Las Vegas several times on conventions and on business, and usually I've stayed at the Mirage. I like it, but I don't know if that's the best hotel to pick for this trip. Caesars looks nice, but I would really like different points of view about hotels on the strip.

I've been looking at Yahoo! Travel and Expedia, and most vacation packages are around $2,100.00. I'm thinking about spending $4,000.00 including hotel+flight+expenses.

My mom is 64, but really she looks more like 54. We're not interested in gambling; however I'm sure that we will each spend some time in the casino floor. No point about going to LV and not dropping a quarter in a slot machine.
It's kind of the vacation my dad couldn't give my mom, and now I have the chance to do it. We definitely have to do Ka or O, as I pointed out she's a big Cirque Du Soleil fan.

If money is no object then I would go with either, one of the new towers at Caesars Palace, or the Venetian. I prefer either to the Bellagio or Wynn

If you're looking for a very nice 4 star hotel that's "generally" the best value, try the Luxor.

The best value on a 3 star would either be at
The Stratosphere

Bill's Gamblin Hall(ex Barbary Coast)

Off the strip
My folks really enjoy staying at the Orleans

When is your Mom's birthday? Is she 40ish or 70something? What amenities are you most interested in? Do you have a price range in mind(room $$$)? - If you will "add details" to your Q. I could make a better recommendation. If one of the above hotels sounds interesting let me know and I will add details about it. If you have another in mind, let me know.

We go to LV 2-3 times a year for 2 weeks or more and have for over 20 years.

Later:I would need to know when you plan to go, and how many nights you need? Rates vary greatly. Or tell me if you're willing to be flexible, such as, some time in June , July, etc if you can do that I'm sure you could get a much better deal.

Much later: for any of the Cirque shows you will want to buy the tickets as far in advance as possible(60 days) to get good seats. IMHO the best seats are not the ones near the stage, if you get seats further back and in the center, you will be able to take in everything that's going on.

>Mystere is my favorite, but you will not go wrong with "O" or Ka.

I can't give you any help on the hotel if I don't have a date and the number of nights you need? -

If you like, send me an anonymoust e-mail through YA - that way I can answer you directly and get back to you more quickly with my response. >I would really like to help you make this a great trip. I know how you feel, I took my folks a few years ago<

Your mom would probably love Caesars but the Mirage has a Circ show right at it... and the one I know I would liike to see "LOVE" with the music of the Beatles.

try looking at www.usairwaysvacations.com I always see some great packages there.
also I usually book my hotel and flight separate. I check the sites you are checking but I actually book at the sites (like www.usair.com). The broker sites charge a fee in addition to the fare and we the consumer pays that fee not the airline. I really save doing it this way and usually more than the small fee amount. Sign up for some email promotions at Caesars and you may bet better rates in your inbox. I do from most of the ones I would consider staying at on the strip. If you already tend to stay at the Mirage and have and use their players club card, you should be getting really good deals in the mail or email....I am in the Tropicana players club and I am staying for 5 nights in a week or so and 2 of my nights are FREE and the other 3 nights are costing me only $45 each!!!!!

the element approximately Vegas is there's a motel to everyones funds and the bigger the value variety the nicer the motel, normally, yet Vegas does furnish many large bargains that could be useful you get a nicer motel. i might say Luxor is the superb for the money. Then MGM Grand in case you desire to spend somewhat greater for a nicer room. And in case you desire to bypass all out on a room Bellagio. I indexed a internet site below that has the maximum up-to-date Las Vegas motel Promo Codes. So examine and notice if any of the inns are having a promoting throughout the time of your stay and you will desire to keep a hundred' s - Have a large Honey Moon an good luck in Vegas!

It depends what your mom likes. Is she 40ish or 80ish? I live in Vegas and like staying on the strip from time to time. I like the Mandalay Bay (the Hotel), the Mirage, TI, Venetian, Bellagio... they're all very good hotels. If you want to get away from the strip but still want a resort, check out the Red Rock Resort. It's a very good hotel with good entertainment and bars. Good Luck!

The Mirage is good - it's rather classy. I took my mom to Luxor for her 50th and she still talks about it. I'm taking both my parents to NYNY this year. (My dad grew up in Brooklyn.) Mandalay Bay is upscale as well. My coworker and her hudband stayed at Venetian and liked it and my boss loves Bellagio.

I would stay away from the Palms, TI, and Hard Rock - they tend to attract a younger crowd.

Excalibur tends to cater more to familes. Ick.
