I am from Indianapolis and personally there is nothing I enjoy more in sports than the rivalry between my hometown team the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots. I think rivalries in sports makes sports more exciting. Without rivalries the Boston Red Sox-vs.-New York Yankees, Michagan-vs.Ohio State, Maple Leafs-vs.-Canadiens, Redskins-vs.-Cowboys, and so on matches wouldn't have the luster they have now. Personally, I see the rivalry between Indianapolis and New England as a rivalry based off of respect because no two teams in the NFL have been more successful in the past ten years then these two teams and I think that fans on both sides enjoy the rivalry because it's slowly becoming a legendary rivalry, especially because both teams have the best quarterbacks in the game, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. What do you think?

Jesse, you are the reason why other states despise Boston fans. Alot of you guys think it's your God given right to have a title in the city every year and if you don't you ***** and you cry about how you were screwed so don't you dare take this accomplishment from Indianapolis, we are hard working people who love sports for the right reason. Oh and Peyton has been married to his college sweethart for over eight years and she's a hot redhead. Think before you speak Jesse.

Congratulations Mort, your team finally won after getting their asses kicked by Indy three years in a row. If your actually boasting about that then I pity you.

I think the teams themselves respect each other...I think the fans hate each other...and the never ending debate of who is better, Manning or Brady will probably rage on after they are retired...If you like stats, you like Manning...If you like wins and championships, you like Brady...I like Brady...I said before that this is Montana(Brady) and Marino(Manning) 20 years later...but I thought of probably a closer analogy...This is Bradshaw(Brady) and Staubach(Manning) 30 years later...Bradshaw didn't always put up big numbers, but had 4 Super Bowls...Staubach was more flashy being on the Cowboys and with big stat games, but he only had 2 Super Bowls...

I don't think you can call it a true "heated" rivalry yet. It's too soon. If these teams continue to meet and play great games then it will graduate to that level.

The problem is that there isn't enough history between the teams to put their matchup up there with Cowboys vs. Redskins or Eagles vs. Giants where until recently, you never really saw blowouts going either way.

Plus the rivalry is about the QB's, and QB's are soft spoken wimps sometimes. Tom and Payton are too nice to be in a heated rivalry.

Well it is Friendly in the sense that I don't think the fans will harm or injure each other. On the other hand the Patriots really don't consider it a rivalry. I think you need BOTH teams to call it a rival for it to truly be a rivalry. Actually most rivalries are friendly now.

Well since the Colts beat the Pats in the AFC Championship a few months ago, this rivalry just HEATED up. The Patriots are hungry to beat the Colts. The PATS WILL eat the Colts ALIVE next year!!!

Patriots rock! although having grown up in ohio i seem to have some ohio friends giving me crap about the patriots now and how great the colts are....grrrrr......but its fun!

Maybe thats how it started but now its HEATED. I am from Boston and we HATE the Colts. Especially after last year. You guys were lucky our team had the flu. Why do you think the Patriots went crazy in free agency? Because having the Colts beat us especially when we have a large lead make our blood boil. And so you know Manning isnt the best QB in the game. Just has the best receivers. I mean the whole offense is built to give him stats. The commercials he does pisses me off even more. Its like all he cares about is money...... And yeah Tom has girlfriends and one is pregnant... even Eli just got engaged... so wheres Payton's girl? I think hes a fag he should join up with A-Rod... but then again every good player that Bostonians hate is gay LMAO

i think that the more they play and the more they continue to compete with each other, the more heated the rivalry gets...this may be because the media will continue to build up every game they play against each other, but also because there will be more chances for the teams to beat each other up and more chances for something to happen to result in a war of words

It's not as much as the Colts and Patriots, It's more Peyton Manning and Tom Brady rivalry and it's a friendly rivalry (and Brees is the 3rd best)

I think it's less of a rivalry and more of a repressed sexual tension.
