When you have a major crisis and he stands by you. That is usually after HS, but it could be anytime.

You may find a friendship in high school that lasts and goes into adulthood, but I think you find your true friends beyond high school. These are the people who stick by your side through thick and thin as you experience some very burdensome trials and experiences.

There will be several times in your life that will show you who your real friends are. And since you typically end up being an adult longer than you did a child or teen, I'd say you find true friends during adulthood.

You find out who your long term true friends are after high school. Those people who you can always come back to, whether or not separations have occured, are the more real friends.

That's not to say you can't have great friends in high school. But after high school, people grow up. People are very different after school is over and they're in the real world. And people drift apart. They move away, get married, have kids, their interests change, their perspectives on life change.

You might or might not meet lifelong friends in high school. Enjoy the friends you have at the moment. And be glad of the ones who stick around for years to come.

I would say both. True friends are really hard to find. I have some that I have known since we were in elementary school. We rarely talk or see each other, but I know if I needed them they would be there for me.

Then I also have a few true friends that I have met through work. One of them I have been friends with for 15 years. She lives in another state but I hear from her almost everyday.

it's not when you find out who your true friends are - that doesn't matter. what matters is the trust, respect, love and comfort you have with these friends - that doesn't come with age but with a sense of true commitment to that friend -standing by them through thick and thin - this can sometimes be found at the age of 5 and for others at the age of 60 and for some people never. just remember what you put into a friendship you usually get back from. treat your friends like you want to be treated - listen to them, feel their pain, and always be their comfort zone and, more than likely, you'll always have them as a friend.

Well I met my best friend in High School 13 years ago. We are still best friends. You will find some friends in HS, but sometimes you will find true friends in college, the military, work, peace corps or whatever you decide to do with your life.

People will come in and out of your life all of your lifetime. There is no way to predict who you will remain friends with once you have finished high school. Sometimes people just fall out of touch with eachother. You will make and lose friends all of your life, and just like any other relationship, if it was meant to be, you'll be friends for as long as you're going to be friends.
