I think you need to ask yourself which is more important.
Football or not having sex for a few weeks.
Because if I planned a nice night for my husband and then he was like "Football's on", I would be mad. Can you record it? Or just watch ESPN tommorrow.

I don't like football/sports myself but I bet you have plenty of power to have as much romance as you want as long as you don't make him feel guilty or bad for wanting to watch a game.
After all I know football games don't last forever. Why not participate with enthusiasm then have an after party together...
EDIT: Just realized the husband is the one asking, not the wife... whoops.
Turn off the football and show your wife she's more important to you. Tape the game and watch it later. If you can't tape it then watch highlights later. If you can't watch highlights, oh well. Who cares about football when the woman you love wants to spend some intimate quality time with you?

Order out, then tell her that if she will spend time with you watching the game then after the game is off you'll do whatever she wants. It's all about compromise.

there's tomorrow or another night-It's been yrs. for me since I had a romantic night with a woman.-you can wait till after the game or maybe she will watch it with you.

understand how you feel...
then let her know,as sexily as you can,that you plan to spend your lifetime with only her so you'll have plenty of time to make love....the earliest being "later tonight".
