20 yrs .ago I bought 2 southeast Asian Leaf turtles, from a small Manhattan store. They were common then & are NOT on the endangered or forbidden list of today's commerce. I loved them so much & fed them human food which they loved, scrambled eggs, rice, cake, bananas, hard-boiled eggs, you-name-it They were personable & almost human. then when I was struck by a car , no one to care for them, I came home 2 months later & they were dead. I am & will always be heartbroken.
PLease help - Who and where would have this specific turtle for sale or import? (I want no other) They are rugged, smart, adaptable, semi-aquatic - compare to a human baby. These are worthwhile pets to love & care for. Any specific info from those who are into turtles.????? All good leads appreciated. I ask those of you with a soft heart for turtles to reply.

Vietnamese Leaf Turtle, $80- http://www.empireoftheturtle.com/pricelist.htm

Asian Leaf, $50- http://www.turtlepimp.com/livestock/exotic.php

These are good, reliable dealers who will do you right.

Now, before you buy it, I want you to promise you'll treat it right- no more human food, only a good healthy turtle diet such as this article recommends: http://www.asianturtle.org/htm/species_Cyclemys_dentata.html

I have seen Asian Leaf Turtles available recently, but I don't remember where. You might try some of the dealers in the Kingsnake.com link (this is the only place that I can think of that you might be able to find them).
