All my life I always got the fortune that said " You will never have to worry about money." or something to that extent. So whenever someone makes fun of me, or picks on me, I always say, "I just won the lottery!" It makes me feel better. I know it's childish, but it's like my happy place!

I remind myself I was in the marines and I'd feel sorry if someone wants a piece of me

My best defense is loving my self. Knowing that I'm unique. When someone points a finger at you. There's 3 pointing back. That means. There's somethings that they are feeling insecure about. Misery loves company. Some people like to bring you down with them. If someone says something derogatory to me. I usually say. Well, You get that in this kinda business. Meaning life or living. Hope this helps. I hope you win that lottery. But don't spend all your monies trying. Remember God our father made you, and loves you.

I rarely run into that kind of thing, but when I do, I guess the thing I most often use is - who cares what an idiot thinks or says. Usually it's not even necessary or worth it to respond. I don't resort to trading verbal barbs; I try to stay above that. If I choose to respond it's usually just with a, "whatever" and a knowing look and smile.

Thats a good one! My defense usually is that I just could care less what ignorant people think of me, and they hate that.
When somebody cops an attitude with me I kill em with kindness and surprisingly enough it always wins.
I also make sure my diamond engagement ring is in view of them. It reminds me that there is only one man who's oppinion really matters to me,and he is in love with me.... hopefully they get this message too when seeing the beautiful rock on my finger.
To wimpy for ya? MAybe...but very effective for me.

I guess I am sort of a wussy. If someone is coming down hard on me, I turn my back on them and walk away or put my fingers in my ears and shut my eyes and go "LA, LA, LA".

dissociation, avoidance, suppression, sublimation, intellectualization, introjection, repression, and displacement.

normally, about 7/10, it will be sublimation. i get active in some way, go rock climbing, swimming, surfing, play hockey, or run it off.

that's great!! i might have to start using that one. i usually don't answer, or occasionally i'll respond with: a sphincter says what? i know kinda lame, but everyone always says, "what?" and that cracks me up. (no pun intended)

I like that response. Not selfish at all. Mine, is "sounds like a personal problem to me."
